Governor Ademola Adeleke has voiced serious apprehension regarding a viral video that appears to show Senator Francis Fadahunsi threatening the lives of Accord Party leadership and their relatives. During an emergency briefing on Tuesday, Adeleke classified these statements as a significant national security issue rather than a mere political dispute, urging President Bola Tinubu and the National Security Adviser to intervene immediately.
The governor formally requested that the Nigeria Police and the Department of State Services launch a probe into the senator’s conduct. He stressed that security forces must cease any unlawful actions against political opponents and ensure that all activities surrounding the upcoming governorship election remain within the bounds of the law.
Adeleke further claimed that he received reports of a police directive aimed at arresting Accord Party leaders in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s election, with plans to transfer them to Abuja for detention. He has contacted the Inspector-General of Police to confirm the validity of these orders, warning that such actions would be illegal and damage the reputation of the nation. Furthermore, the governor decried the ongoing detention of over 62 Accord leaders who remain in custody without formal charges. Previously, the Imole Campaign Council had also advocated for the prosecution of Senator Fadahunsi following reports of threats against Accord supporters in Ijeshaland.
