Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has formally summoned the contractor and consultant responsible for the Technical College, Irri, in Isoko South Local Government Area. The governor’s decision follows an unannounced visit where he discovered significant deficiencies and stagnation in the construction process.
The project, which was initially contracted in 2019, has faced severe delays spanning seven years. During his inspection, Oborevwori noted that critical areas, such as the workshop and landscaping, remain largely untouched, casting doubt on the contractor’s claim that the facility would be ready by August. He expressed deep frustration at the lack of activity on site, noting the total absence of workers during his visit.
Governor Oborevwori emphasized that his administration will no longer accept substandard performance or the abandonment of public infrastructure. He plans to hold both the builder and the project consultant accountable for the timeline failures. The inspection was attended by local officials and traditional leadership, including Mr. Warri Friday and the Odio-Ologbo of Irri Kingdom, Simon Wajutome Odhomo, Igbogidi I.
