Kefas Hints at Zainab Ibrahim as 2027 Running Mate

Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas has signaled that APC Deputy National Women Leader Zainab Ibrahim is his preferred choice for deputy governor in the upcoming 2027 election.

During a gathering at TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas hinted that Zainab Ibrahim, the APC Deputy National Women Leader, might serve as his running mate in the 2027 gubernatorial election. The governor made this comment while hosting APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, who visited the state for his 58th birthday.

Both Kefas and Yilwatda publicly addressed Ibrahim as the future deputy governor of the state during the event. Beyond political posturing, the governor lauded the APC leadership for conducting a free medical outreach program in Taraba to mark the chairman’s birthday, noting the positive impact on local residents.

Kefas took the opportunity to praise President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, specifically citing the recent establishment of an Army division in the region as a significant contribution to state stability. He claimed that the local APC chapter faces little opposition, describing other participants as mere contributors rather than competitors.

Prof. Yilwatda emphasized that his choice to celebrate in Taraba served as a statement on the party’s dedication to public welfare. He insisted that the APC focuses on healthcare and education, not just electoral support. Furthermore, he commended Governor Kefas for his cooperation with the federal government, highlighting President Tinubu’s commitment to broad-based development.
