The Osun State Police Command has confirmed that Moyowa Adejoorin, the Commissioner for Environment and Sanitation, is no longer in custody. His arrest occurred in the aftermath of a violent shooting during an All Progressives Congress (APC) gathering in Ilesa.
Authorities took Adejoorin into custody on Saturday after reports indicated that four individuals, including a teenager named Tobi Ilesanmi, sustained injuries during the political event. Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi noted that officers secured the location, where they recovered evidence such as spent cartridges and headgear belonging to the Amotekun security corps.
Reports stated that Adejoorin was detained when his vehicle was stopped at the venue alongside an Amotekun operative suspected of involvement in the shooting. Although a video circulating online depicted the commissioner walking free on Sunday, officials have now officially verified his release on bail. Ojelabi stated that while the commissioner is out, he currently has no further information regarding the status of the Amotekun personnel involved in the same investigation.
