MACBAN requests investigation following murder of Benue leader Ardo Risku

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria is calling for a thorough police investigation into the assassination of its Benue State chairman, Ardo Risku, who was killed following a peace meeting.

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has denounced the fatal shooting of Ardo Risku, its Benue State Chairman. The organization is urging security forces to launch an exhaustive inquiry to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

National President Baba Othman Ngelzarma stated that the leadership was deeply saddened by the news. According to the association, Risku was killed while returning from a security meeting in the Ohimini Local Government area, which had been organized to foster regional peace. Reports state that he and an associate were ambushed and shot in Okudu village shortly after the gathering concluded.

The group emphasized that the timing of the attack, occurring immediately after a peace-focused meeting, suggests the possibility of a premeditated strike. Furthermore, MACBAN highlighted a previous assault on the chairman’s son, a lawyer, which occurred the week prior. The organization believes these incidents are connected and require urgent, transparent attention from law enforcement.

MACBAN warned that such violence against community figures hinders reconciliation efforts and stability. While extending condolences to the grieving family and the local members, the association reiterated its dedication to collaborating with government authorities to address nationwide security threats.
