One Attacker Killed as Armed Group Targets NIPSS

Security operatives at NIPSS in Plateau State neutralized an attacker during a thwarted raid on the facility late Wednesday night.

Security forces at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) in Kuru, Plateau State, successfully blocked an intrusion attempt by armed gunmen on Wednesday evening. The conflict, which occurred around 11:00 p.m., resulted in a brief but intense firefight.

Dr. Osime Samuel, the Head of Public Affairs for the Institute, confirmed that the assailants were forced to withdraw after security teams mounted a rapid and organized defense. During the exchange, one attacker was killed, and several others reportedly fled with wounds. The Institute emphasized that the perimeter was never breached and that all staff, residents, and Senior Executive Course participants remain unharmed.

Authorities have since strengthened security measures and are actively pursuing the individuals who escaped. The Institute expressed gratitude to the security services for their swift intervention and advised the public to ignore rumors. This event follows a similar security challenge at the facility just a few weeks prior.
