A fire erupted at the Bono Energy Terminal situated in the Ibru Jetty Complex near Coconut Bus Stop on the Apapa–Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos. Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service teams managed to suppress the flames on Friday. The incident centered on a storage tank holding five million litres of Automotive Gas Oil. It was reported at 12:04 p.m., prompting an immediate deployment from the Ajegunle, Sari Iganmu, and Isolo fire stations, with units arriving on-site by 12:16 p.m.
Margaret Adeseye, the Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, stated that an investigation is currently underway to identify the origin of the fire. Working alongside personnel from nearby oil and gas installations, firefighters achieved total containment by 1:54 p.m. This efficient joint effort successfully kept the fire from reaching nearby storage tanks, preventing potential catastrophe. Officials confirmed that no injuries or deaths occurred during the event. The agency praised all emergency responders for their collaborative work in resolving the situation.
