Adegoke reportedly beat the suspects to death for stealing produce and a motorcycle from his farm.
The farmer claimed that the deceased and others from a neighboring community had previously been stealing from his farm.
The incident occurred last Sunday when Adegoke confronted the thieves again, leading to a fight in which two of them were killed and others were injured.
“Some suspected thieves had been stealing Adegoke’s farm produce. Before now, his cocoa, kola nuts, and plantains had been missing from his farm often. The thieves had also stolen his motorcycle on the same farm,” a source said.
“But he caught some people on the farm again and beat them to stupor, and in the process, two d!ed, and others were injured.”
Another source said: “Before now, his Cocoa pods, Kolanuts and plantains had been missing from his farm often, including his motorcycle.”
The incident has led to increased tension in the area, with residents of Mile 10 fearing potential reprisals from the Aba Tundun community, which is believed to be the home of the two suspected thieves.
The conflict has caused some residents of Mile 10, Oniseere, to flee the area.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest of the suspect on Sunday and stated that an investigation into the matter has begun.
