British Olympian Sir Mo Farah has claimed that he is being harassed for money by the man whose name he took when he was trafficked into the UK illegally as a child.

Born in Somalia, Sir Mo was trafficked to Britain as a child and forced to work as a domestic servant after his father was killed in civil violence when he was just four years old.

Originally named Hussein Abdi Kahin, he was smuggled into the UK with a false passport bearing the identity “Mo Farah,” a name that had been taken from another child.

After revealing his story in a 2022 documentary, Sir Mo offered to assist the man whose identity he had assumed as a child.

According to Farah, the situation has now escalated into emotional blackmail.

A source said that Sir Mo Farah was forced to change his phone number after his namesake repeatedly demanded money.

It is understood that Sir Mo had initially promised to stay in touch and sent the man around £5,000.

However, the other Mo reportedly managed to obtain the Olympian’s new phone number and began harassing him for more money. The source added that Sir Mo felt he was being constantly harassed and hounded.

They said: ‘He has taken a step back. He didn’t want to make a big fuss but thought it better to not engage.

‘He has had to change his phone number. It’s unfair Sir Mo is having to deal with this.

‘He feels he’s the victim. He is just tired, and thinks it’s so sad.’

Sir Mo Farah became a household name after winning gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters at the 2012 London Olympics.

He repeated his double gold success in Rio in 2016 and has also earned six World Athletics Championship titles and five European titles throughout his career.
