Ogunmodede Retained as Remo Stars Coach Ahead of New Season
Remo Stars head coach, Daniel Ogunmodede, will continue in his role after the club confirmed that his contract remains valid until 2027.
Amid rumours of a possible departure, Ogunmodede hinted at his stay via a post on X, saying: “Trust the process. Big announcement soon,” signed with his usual tag, “IJABALL.”
A club insider, Michael Imiavan, later clarified that the coach is not leaving.
“Daniel Ogunmodede will continue as the club head coach. His three-year contract still runs until 2027. All parties are happy with the job he has done so far,” Imiavan wrote.
Ogunmodede led Remo Stars to their first-ever Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) title in April, making them the first South-West club to win the league since Julius Berger in 2000.
Long-Term Involvement
He first joined the club in 2015 as an assistant coach and helped them gain promotion to the NPFL in 2016. He later developed the club’s youth system and played a key role in forming Beyond Limits Football Academy. He became head coach in 2020 and returned from a coaching stint in Portugal in 2022.
Since then, he has guided the team to two second-place finishes and a league title.
Ogunmodede On The Title Win
Speaking to Eagle 7 Sports Radio, he said the success was a result of steady work and discipline:
“This is a reward for hard work and patience. We’ve been building up to this.”
He also stated that he felt no external pressure:
“The only pressure I feel is my personal drive to improve daily.”
He praised the efforts of club staff, players, management, and fans, describing the win as the result of a united team effort.
