Nigerian Man Arrested In Delhi For Allegedly Defrauding Over 100 Women
Delhi Police have arrested a 29-year-old Nigerian man accused of duping more than 100 women across India by posing as a UK-based Korean businessman on a language exchange app.
The suspect, identified as Stephane, also known as Dominic, was apprehended from his rented flat in Tilak Nagar, west Delhi, police said on Monday, September 29.
According to investigators, Dominic used a language-learning platform to befriend single women by pretending to be “Duck Young,” a Korean jewellery trader based in the UK. Once trust was built, he would claim to be stranded at immigration with cheques or documents pending clearance. His accomplices, posing as officials, would then pressure victims to transfer money digitally.

The case came to light after a woman named Anjali reported losing ₹48,500 on September 24. She told police she met “Duck Young” via the app and was later informed he had been detained at Mumbai airport for lacking a medical card. She then received calls from impostors claiming to be immigration officials demanding money for his release. When she refused to pay an additional ₹2 lakh, the accused severed all contact.
A cyber police team traced Dominic by analysing call data, bank records, and online accounts. Officers recovered a mobile phone containing fabricated profiles and chat records with over 100 women.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) Prashant Gautam said Dominic confessed during questioning that he entered India in 2019 on a six-month tourist visa using an Ivory Coast passport. After overstaying illegally and depleting his funds, he allegedly turned to online fraud.
