Nigerian Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest Sewing Marathon
Nigerian fashion designer Oluwaseun Kuforiji has made history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest sewing marathon.
Reports confirm that he accomplished this remarkable feat by hand-sewing 22 items over an impressive 106 hours and 55 minutes.
The extraordinary “sew-a-thon” took place in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, from January 22 to 26, 2025.
According to the Guinness World Records, “The longest sewing marathon lasted 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds and was achieved by Oluwaseun Kuforiji (Nigeria) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun, from January 22 to January 26, 2025.
“Oluwaseun hopes to promote fashion craftsmanship and inspire creativity in others. During his attempt, he successfully sewed 22 items,” the statement read.
Kuforiji aimed to emphasize the significance of craftsmanship and creativity in the fashion industry.
He hopes his achievement will inspire others to embrace and promote fashion craftsmanship and innovation.
Expressing his excitement and gratitude on Instagram, the fashion designer shared, “It’s Official! I am beyond thrilled to announce that my Guinness World Record attempt has been officially approved! I am now the record holder for the Longest Sewing Marathon with an incredible time of 106 hours, 55 minutes, and 20 seconds!
“This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support, encouragement, and prayers from my family, friends, team, and well-wishers. I sincerely appreciate everyone who stood by me throughout this journey. Your belief in me kept me going.
