Nigerian Army Secures Weapons Cache in Imo Forest Sweep

Operation UDO KA troops apprehended a key logistics operative and seized a significant stash of firearms in an intelligence-driven raid within Imo State forests.

Operation UDO KA soldiers successfully navigated a forest in Imo State, resulting in the capture of a primary armourer and logistics coordinator associated with assaults on security personnel and oil infrastructure. The Nigerian Army confirmed the operation on Thursday, highlighting that actionable intelligence guided the mission to the Akpe Aggah–Egbema Forest zone on 1 July 2026.

During the sweep at Obiakpu Forest, authorities apprehended the suspect, who allegedly supplied criminal groups operating within the Ohaji–Egbema vicinity. The army recovered an array of weaponry, specifically one AK-47, an M4A1 carbine, an M16A2 rifle, five pump-action shotguns, a handmade pistol, and six magazines alongside various munitions. Military officials stated this seizure significantly hinders the criminal network’s ability to wage further attacks. The detained suspect is currently undergoing questioning to assist in identifying other members of the syndicate.
