Bello Matawalle, the Minister of State for Defence, has ordered the armed forces to ramp up anti-terrorism missions in the North-West. This directive follows a series of lethal attacks in Zamfara State. Matawalle expressed his condolences to the affected residents, specifically those in the Bungudu Local Government Area, through a statement released by his aide, Ahmad Dan-Wudil.
The government remains dedicated to securing the region. Matawalle instructed Operation FANSAN YAMMA to work closely with other security bodies to suppress insurgent activities. He expanded this mandate to military units across Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Sokoto, and Kaduna, urging them to use all necessary force to neutralize criminal elements.
Furthermore, the minister called on local leaders and traditional authorities to assist by reporting any individuals aiding terrorists. Commanders have been told to boost patrols and monitor volatile areas to dismantle militant hideouts. Matawalle praised recent successes in places like Gummi, Bukkuyum, and Anka, encouraging soldiers to keep the pressure on until safety is restored.
