The Nigerian government has dispatched a specialized Passport Intervention Team from the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) headquarters to the United Kingdom. This initiative, ordered by Minister of Interior Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and coordinated by Comptroller General Kemi Nandap, aims to clear a backlog of passport applications.
The team is expected to arrive in the UK on August 10, 2026. Working alongside the Nigerian High Commission, they will visit various cities to assist citizens with new applications, renewals, and pending files. Eligible participants include those whose current passports expire within one year.
Officials emphasize that citizens should wait for the official release of the schedule, venues, and timings before traveling to any location. Meanwhile, the standard online application portal and home delivery services will continue to function normally.
