Armed attackers target Zamfara Polytechnic Rector’s home, killing guard and kidnapping residents

Gunmen raided the home of the Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda rector, killing a guard and abducting several people during a series of attacks in Zamfara state.

Suspected criminals launched a coordinated raid in Kaura Namoda, Zamfara State, early Tuesday morning. The assault included an attack on the home of Dr. Aminu Yusuf, the Rector of Federal Polytechnic Kaura Namoda, which left his security guard, Isah Yankaba, dead.

Dr. Yusuf managed to evade capture by jumping over his property wall alongside his wife and daughter. During his escape, the rector suffered an injury to his leg. Following the raid on the rector’s house, the armed group moved to Hayin Baguso, where they took the wife and child of a man named Ibrahim hostage.

While the group attempted to raid the home of businessman Alhaji Salisu Azaria, they were repelled by a quick response from security forces. The attackers later arrived at the Low-Cost area of town, where they captured a university instructor, Dr. Namadina Hamza, before retreating. The Zamfara State Police Command has not yet issued a formal statement regarding these events.
