Native Doctor Arrested After Client Dies from Prescription for Pain
The Divisional Police Officer of Owode Egba has launched an investigation into a murder that took place on September 12 around 4 p.m.
According to a statement from SP Omolola, the command began looking into the case after Ifakunle Olanrewaju, a 28-year-old traditional herbalist from Asa Elegbada Village near Owode Egba, reported the death of one of his clients, Monday Ederemo, aged 26.
Olanrewaju claimed that on September 11, Ederemo, who had traveled from Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, visited him complaining of severe pain in his right leg.
Following his usual practice, Olanrewaju provided Ederemo with some herbal remedies.
The suspect informed the police that Ederemo was found dead in his home on September 12 at around 7 a.m.
The police spokesperson stated that an investigation is underway and the suspect is being questioned at the station.
Although the deceased’s family is not currently pressing charges, the crime scene has been examined, photographs taken, and the body has been sent to the mortuary at General Hospital, Owode Egba, for an autopsy.
The spokesperson added that a preliminary investigation is ongoing to explore whether there were any suspicious circumstances beyond the reported cause.
