Mohbad’s Brother, Friend Arrested Outside Lagos Court
Men of the Zone 2 police command in Lagos State arrested Adura, the younger brother of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, along with his friend Ibrahim Koleosho, aka King White, on the premises of the Magistrates’ Court in Ogba on Wednesday, March 19.
Both men were taken into custody after attending a legal proceeding related to a phone they had sold to one Damola Ayinde.
Reports indicate that their arrest was linked to a petition filed by actor and activist Yomi Fabiyi on December 13, 2024. Fabiyi alleged that Adura had initiated an Instagram chat claiming to have video evidence of how Mohbad died and demanded ₦3 million in Bitcoin in exchange for the footage.
Adura, however, denied the allegations, stating that the chat originated from Ayinde, to whom he had sold his phone. A forensic investigation has been conducted, and the case remains under court review.
Reacting to the arrest, Adura’s mother, Abosede, appeared in a viral video, breaking down in tears and pleading for help to locate her son. She alleged that Yomi Fabiyi and one Sam Jojo were behind what she described as an “abduction.”
Speaking in Yoruba, she said,
“Please help me, Nigerians. Yomi Fabiyi and Sam Jojo have taken my son. I don’t know where they are taking him to. He asked them to take my son away. My son did nothing to them. They must not lay a hand on him, he is sick. Demola, you’ve put me in trouble. Mohbad’s spirit will fight you.”
In December, Adura had demanded a public apology from Fabiyi, Ayinde, and others, accusing them of hacking his TikTok account to tarnish his reputation. He also filed a ₦1 billion lawsuit against them for defamation, tampering with evidence, and making fraudulent claims implicating him.
A family member who spoke to the publication on Wednesday suggested that the arrest may have been linked to a heated exchange of words between Koleosho and Fabiyi.
“We don’t know the whereabouts of Adura but I can confirm that his friend, Koleosho, was arrested after the court proceedings today. Everything just happened suddenly.
We learnt there has been some exchange of words between Koleosho and Fabiyi over the issue relating to the phone and this may have led to the arrest. We don’t know where the security men came from but we have been trying to locate their whereabouts.” the family source disclosed.
A police officer confirmed that operatives of the Zone 2 Police Command carried out the arrests.
“Yes, they were arrested by the police operatives from Zone 2, Onikan, not men of the Lagos State Command,” he said.
