Military Thwarts Terrorist Raid in Zamfara, Seizes Weapons and Gear

Military forces in Zamfara State successfully thwarted a planned terrorist attack, recovering a cache of weapons and military uniforms from the retreating suspects.

Soldiers from the 8 Division Garrison, part of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, successfully prevented an attack by suspected terrorists in Zamfara State. During the engagement, forces seized various weapons, motorcycles, and other supplies.

Acting on specific intelligence, the unit intercepted the group as they traveled toward Kwanar Jollof in Jangeru Village, located within the Shinkafi Local Government Area. The troops set up an ambush along the path and launched an assault when the suspects appeared. Faced with intense gunfire, the militants abandoned their plans and retreated into the nearby bush.

The recovery effort yielded a PKT assault rifle, ammunition, two motorcycles, chains likely meant for kidnapping victims, and eight sets of military uniforms. Authorities are concerned that the presence of the uniforms suggests the attackers intended to pose as security personnel. Currently, the military is continuing search operations to capture the remaining suspects and ensure the safety of the local population. Officials emphasized that this mission highlights the value of intelligence-driven military tactics and reiterated their resolve to combat criminal groups throughout the North-West region.
