Soldiers from the 65 Battalion recently neutralized an unauthorized bunkering location situated in the Orile district of Lagos State. During this mission, authorities captured six suspects and seized various materials related to the unlawful trade.
Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, representing the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army, confirmed that the July 16, 2026, raid was launched after intelligence reports identified economic sabotage occurring in the region. Upon arriving at the site, the military unit successfully apprehended the six individuals allegedly running the operation.
Confiscated evidence included four large drums—half filled with petroleum products suspected to be illegally refined—along with a Ford bus and a tanker. These items were transferred to the Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for formal investigation and prosecution, as directed by Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo.
Major General Adebayo Babalola, the General Officer Commanding the 81 Division, praised the soldiers for their professional conduct and quick action. He emphasized that the Army remains dedicated to protecting national resources and eliminating criminal activity. Furthermore, Babalola called for continued public cooperation in reporting suspicious events to security forces.
