A joint task force involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Nigeria Immigration Service has taken 46 suspected illegal immigrants into custody in Ogun State. Major Idereghi Samuel Akari, spokesperson for the 35 Artillery Brigade, stated that the operation started on June 11, 2026, targeting areas including Ijebu Imushin and Ijebu Ilese.
Initial findings suggest the group had resided in the region for approximately half a year lacking proper travel credentials. The detainees claimed to be representatives for QNet, a multi-level marketing organization. The group consists of 36 men and 10 women, hailing from Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo, and Senegal. They have since been handed over to the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service for formal processing.
Brigadier General Friday Oguche Onu lauded the collaborative effort of the security personnel involved. He urged the public to remain alert and report unusual activities to the relevant authorities. This operation underscores the military’s ongoing commitment to managing border security and protecting the nation.
