The Nigerian military reports a significant 213 percent jump in the number of terrorists and their associates turning themselves in to troops in the North East over the past seven days. This surge is attributed to the persistent efforts of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), which has successfully weakened insurgent groups by disrupting their supply lines and logistical networks.
Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force in the North East, Captain Mohammed Goni, confirmed the development via a statement on X. He noted that the rise in surrenders is a direct result of coordinated ground offensives and precision strikes against militant strongholds. Among these recent surrenders were two high-ranking terrorists who arrived at military positions with weapons, ammunition, and other military equipment.
Captain Goni highlighted that these surrenders signify a collapse in morale and internal cohesion within terrorist ranks. Furthermore, internal conflicts and continuous military pressure have pushed more fighters to desert, such as a group that surrendered to the 202 Battalion in Bama on August 7. After a formal screening process, these individuals were processed according to established protocols.
The military continues to emphasize a multi-dimensional strategy that combines offensive maneuvers with the systematic choking of enemy resources. Operation HADIN KAI officials remain dedicated to neutralizing threats while maintaining avenues for those choosing to lay down their arms. The Command is calling on the public to assist by sharing relevant information to aid security efforts while urging remaining insurgents to abandon their campaign of violence.
