Soldiers from the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), successfully stopped a series of coordinated infiltration efforts by ISWAP militants throughout Borno State during the early hours of July 10, 2026. Captain Mohammed Goni, acting media officer for the operation, confirmed that between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m., fighters attempted to penetrate the Maiduguri Metropolis via Muna Garage, Shuwari Village, and the Ajilari Cross axis. Alert troops engaged the attackers with precise fire, forcing them to withdraw.
Additional incursions were blocked at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai. During operations in Miringa, a military MRAP vehicle struck an explosive device, though no injuries occurred among the personnel. The security situation in these areas is now stable.
In a related success, troops from Sector 3 intercepted a foreign national suspected of smuggling illicit supplies to terrorist groups near the Lake Chad islands. On July 9, 2026, guards stationed along the Maiduguri–Monguno axis stopped a vehicle heading toward Kwatan Doron Baga in Kukawa. The suspect, 48-year-old Rachael Samuel from Chad, was apprehended with a large cache of prohibited goods, including 30 kilograms of cannabis, hazardous chemicals, and various alcoholic beverages.
Authorities noted that these substances are often used by militants to bolster their fighters before combat. The suspect remains in custody while investigators process the seized items. The Theatre Command has praised the soldiers for their vigilance, emphasizing that disrupting these supply chains is vital to weakening insurgent capabilities in the North East. They also called on citizens to keep sharing intelligence to assist in ongoing security efforts.
