MC Oluomo Defends ‘Kundusi’ Gaffe, Tells Critics to Compete With His Children

President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has responded to the widespread mockery following his mispronunciation of the word “kudos” as “kundusi.”

In a viral video shared on Tuesday, Akinsanya addressed delegates of the union, defending his slip by acknowledging his limited formal education and difficulty expressing himself in English. However, he emphasized that he has successfully raised his children, who are now citizens of both the United States and the United Kingdom.

The viral moment occurred when the union leader mistakenly used “kundusi” while praising the efforts of union members in the Federal Capital Territory.

Following his remarks, Akinsanya explained that instead of pursuing formal education, he entered the transport industry at a young age, beginning his career as a bus conductor.

“If you and my children come out to express yourself, I’m not sure you can beat them, they are highly educated. I trained my children properly with money. My children are citizens of America and the United Kingdom. I worked hard to get there.

“‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much. Grammar won’t finish Nigeria, I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba,” he said.

The union leader also relished his beginning, stressing, “I started as a bus conductor, then as a treasurer of a unit of NURTW, to unit chairman, to branch deputy treasurer, to branch treasurer, to branch chairman, to state chairman, and then to national president. I worked hard to get here. I am not educated.

“So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi’, is my child not Qudus? You that you are educated, what did you do?,” he queried.

Akinsanya’s children are known for publicly defending their father whenever he makes a blunder on social media.

In 2022, one of his sons, known on Instagram as King West, responded to critics who labeled his father a lout. He took to his account to confront a troll who claimed that Akinsanya was merely benefiting from national resources due to his close ties with President Bola Tinubu.

He wrote, “For those calling my father a tout, if my father was your father, you would never lack love, care, protection. Get a father like mine.”
