Man Murders His Father In Jigawa

A 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, has reportedly killed his 57-year-old father, Salisu Abubakar, in Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

According to a resident, the incident occurred on Monday night at Bakin Kasuwa Quarters in Sara District, Gwaram LGA.

The resident said the family woke up to find the victim covered in blood with multiple deep cuts on his body.

He was rushed to the hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead.

The spokesperson for the Jigawa State Police Command, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident in a statement.

According to him, “Today, Monday May, 05, 2025, at about 1000hrs, information at Command’s disposal revealed that one Muhammad Salisu, 20 years, of Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District, Gwaram LGA, attacked his biological 57-year father, one Salisu Abubakar of the same address with matchet.

“As a result of the attack, the victim sustained injuries to his shoulder, neck and chest.

“On receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer of Sara and his patrol team were mobilized and rushed to the scene and the victim was evacuated to the Federal Medical Center (FMC) Birnin Kudu for medical attention.”

He stated that the victim was later confirmed dead by the attending medical doctor, and his body was released to the family for burial.

SP Lawan Shiisu added that the suspect was arrested and the weapon used in the attack was recovered.

He further noted that the Commissioner of Police in Jigawa State, CP AT Abdullahi, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse for a thorough investigation. Upon conclusion of the investigation, the suspect will be charged to court to face the full force of the law.
