Man Decries ‘Illegal Goat and Cow Market’ in Lekki Phase One Ahead of Sallah
A concerned resident, Osasu Obayuwana, has raised alarm over the emergence of what he described as an “illegal goat and cow market” around the Lekki Central Mosque in Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
In a video circulating on social media, Obayuwana showed traders setting up shop with rams and cows, allegedly targeting Muslim residents preparing for the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festivities, which fall on Friday, June 6 and Monday, June 9.
Describing the situation as “unacceptable,” Obayuwana called on the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, to take immediate action. He urged the Ministry to dispatch enforcement officers to dismantle the market and prevent further encroachment on the upscale residential area.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from the Ministry regarding the complaint or any planned enforcement action.
