A man identified as Esosa Imasuen has been accused of fatally assaulting his wife, Chinwendu Nnadozie, following a domestic dispute in Benin City.

The incident reportedly occurred on Oza Street in the Ogbelaka area along Sakponba Road. Esosa allegedly beat Chinwendu, a mother of three, during an altercation, inflicting severe injuries.

She was rushed to a hospital, where doctors diagnosed internal bleeding caused by the assault. Tragically, she later died from her injuries.

Her father, Everistus Nnadozie, confirmed the incident, stating he received a call informing him that his son-in-law had beaten his daughter, leaving her seriously injured.

Authorities have yet to issue an official statement on the case.

“They said he took her to the hospital where a doctor was said to have carried out some tests on her, and the result showed that she has internal bleeding”, he said.

He said she later d!ed at the hospital before he could reach her, adding that he was not able to see her corpse as Imasuen had taken her body to an undisclosed mortuary alone.

“I went to his house, they said he had absconded,” the bereaved father said.

Her father, Everistus Nnadozie, said he has been trying to reach Esosa to show him the mortuary where Chinwendu’s body was deposited, but the suspect has failed to show up or respond to calls.

“He has refused to come forward or give any information about where my daughter’s corpse is,” Nnadozie lamented.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement as calls mount for justice in the case.
