Libyan Driver Arrested for Smuggling Two Nigerian Women

A driver was arrested in the Brega area of Libya for attempting to smuggle two undocumented female migrants from Nigeria.

 

According to the Migrant Rescue Watch, officers of the Criminal Investigation Department intercepted the trio on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

The driver, during interrogation, admitted to transporting the women from Houn to Benghazi for financial gain.

 

“03.09.24 – CID in Brega area seized a vehicle and arrested a Libyan driver (‘B.A.H.A’) for an attempted human smuggling of 2 undocumented #migrant females of Nigerian nationality,” the post read.

“The driver during interrogation admitted to transporting the 2 females from Houn to Benghazi for financial gain (700 LYD/ca. 150 USD per person). All referred to public prosecution in Ajdabiya for legal action.”
