Lagos Issues Warning Against Malpractices In WASSCE
The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Alli-Balogun, has urged students taking the ongoing 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination to avoid engaging in examination malpractice.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Alli-Balogun stressed the importance of integrity and discipline, reminding students that the examination period, which runs from April 24 to June 20, should be approached with focus and honesty.
The commissioner highlighted the Eko Learners’ Support Programme as a significant initiative, providing 320 televised and online lessons across 10 core subjects, including English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Yoruba.
He also discussed new strategies to enhance teaching outcomes, including a requirement for school principals and vice principals to teach six to eight periods per week.
“The Sanwo-Olu administration is intentional about academic excellence and committed to enhancing performance in major national examinations,” Alli-Balogun noted.
He further mentioned that all learning materials are aligned with the Lagos State curriculum as well as the syllabuses for both the WASSCE and the National Examination Council exams, which are set to begin on June 16.
