A collaborative mission involving the Department of State Services (DSS) and local forest rangers successfully secured the release of two kidnapped children in Kwara State. The rescue occurred this past Thursday within a wooded area situated between the Oba Isin/Owa Onire communities spanning the Isin and Ifelodun local government districts.
The survivors, 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and her five-year-old brother Ibrahim, were extracted from their captors during the tactical engagement. Government officials confirmed that two alleged kidnappers were killed in the exchange of fire, while other members of the criminal group managed to flee, suffering from gunshot injuries. Law enforcement personnel are actively pursuing the escaped suspects.
Authorities seized various items at the site, notably an AK-47, a single-barrel shotgun, ten magazines, a solar-powered device, and provisions. State officials characterized this effort as a segment of broader initiatives to combat kidnapping and terrorism across the region. This development follows a similar rescue mission recently conducted in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
