Soldiers from the 82 Division Task Force, operating under Operation HADIN KAI, successfully secured nine abducted individuals, comprising both women and children, near the Armuda Bridge in the Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State. These operations were documented by Zagazola Makama, a security analyst focusing on the Lake Chad region.
The recovery efforts took place on July 14 during standard military patrols. Early in the morning, around 6:00 am, troops encountered three young girls—Aisha Saleh, aged 11, Ummi Haruna, aged 12, and Hauwa Ali, aged 9—fleeing toward their position. The soldiers ensured the immediate area was secure before transporting the children to safety. Later that day, at 3:00 pm, the unit rescued 15-year-old Jamila Danfo under similar circumstances.
Initial inquiries suggest that the victims, hailing from the Agapalawa region, had managed to break free from their captors before finding the military patrol. This successful mission brings the total count of individuals saved during East Corridor operations to 104 as the military persists with clearance activities throughout Borno State.
