Kim Kardashian Set to Take the Stand in High-Stakes Paris Heist Trial—Nearly a Decade After Daring $10M Robbery
Kim Kardashian is reportedly set to testify at the trial of a Parisian underground gang accused of orchestrating her 2016 robbery in Paris.
The high-profile heist took place during Paris Fashion Week when a group of armed robbers disguised as police officers broke into Kardashian’s rented luxury apartment at the Hôtel de Pourtalès. The assailants tied her up, gagged her at gunpoint, and locked her in the bathroom before making off with $10 million worth of jewelry, including a $4 million diamond engagement ring from Kanye West.
Following extensive investigations, French authorities arrested multiple suspects, some of whom later confessed to their involvement in the crime. Kardashian, who has spoken publicly about the traumatic experience, is expected to provide testimony as the trial moves forward.
According to TMZ, French authorities spent five years investigating the case before ordering it to trial in 2021. Now, nearly a decade later, proceedings are finally beginning.
While Kim Kardashian has previously provided details of the robbery to a judge, this will be her first time recounting the traumatic ordeal before a jury. Twelve individuals are on trial for their alleged involvement in the heist, which remains one of the most high-profile celebrity robberies in recent history.
Kardashian has openly spoken about how the incident deeply affected her, leading to increased security measures and a shift in her approach to public life. Her testimony is expected to play a crucial role in the trial as prosecutors seek justice for the crime.
“They ask for money. I said I don’t have any money,” Kim told her sisters in a 2017 episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, per People. “They dragged me out onto the hallway on top of the stairs. That’s when I saw the gun clear, like clear as day. I was kind of looking at the gun, looking down back at the stairs.”
She continued, “I was like; ‘I have a split second in my mind to make this quick decision. Am I going to run down the stairs and either be shot in the back? It makes me so upset to think about it. Either they’re going to shoot me in the back, or if I make it and they don’t, if the elevator does not open in time, or the stairs are locked, then, like, I’m fucked. There’s no way out.”
A source told the magazine Kim “managed to squeeze her hands out” of the plastic ties around her wrists “by wriggling her hands,” with another source saying she “screamed from the balcony” for help after she broke free.
