Katsina Police Activate Enhanced Security Measures For Schools
The Katsina State Police Commissioner, Bello Shehu, has ordered the Coordinator of the School Protection Squad to fully activate all safety mechanisms across schools in the state, tightening security for both students and staff.
Police spokesperson DSP Abubakar Aliyu said in a statement that the directive followed a meeting with tactical commanders to reassess the command’s overall security strategy. Shehu noted that the move aligns with the Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun’s mandate to prioritise the security of educational institutions nationwide.
The commissioner also approved the deployment of additional resources to schools across Katsina, aiming to reinforce protection amid rising security threats.
He urged residents to support the police by reporting suspicious activities promptly and cooperating with efforts to keep schools and communities safe.
This renewed vigilance comes as northern states continue to grapple with a surge in school attacks and student abductions, prompting some governments to temporarily shut down schools as a precautionary measure.
