2026 BECE results officially published by NECO with makeup exam dates scheduled

NECO has published the 2026 BECE results for over 186,000 candidates and announced upcoming resit dates for Mathematics and English.

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially published the 2026 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results. Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Azeez Sani, confirmed the announcement on Thursday.

A total of 186,291 students sat for the assessments, covering 12 distinct subjects. These pupils represented all 36 Nigerian states, the Federal Capital Territory, and five nations abroad. The testing period ran from April 20 through April 30, 2026.

Results were finalized following an award committee meeting at the council’s Minna headquarters. Dr. Folake Olatunji-David, representing Education Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa, presided over the session, which included various school principals and NECO leadership.

Additionally, the council set July 22 and July 23, 2026, as the dates for a resit examination focused on Mathematics and English Studies. This makeup opportunity is intended for students who failed to meet initial requirements, allowing them to qualify for senior secondary school placement without needing to retake the entire academic year.
