Kano Police and Customs Schedule Live-Fire Drills

The Kano State Police Command has announced scheduled live-ammunition training exercises for police and customs officers in Dawakin Tofa, advising local residents to stay clear and remain calm.

The Kano State Police Command has revealed that both the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Customs Service Training College will organize live-fire training sessions at the Hawan Kalibawa range in Dawakin Tofa. These drills are slated to take place at the designated site within the local government area.

Police spokesperson CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed in a Thursday statement that the police exercises are set for Saturday, July 18, 2026, operating between 6 am and 6 pm. The Nigeria Customs Service will conduct its own sessions starting Monday, July 20, through Thursday, July 23, 2026, adhering to the same daily 6 am to 6 pm timeframe.

Residents living in surrounding neighborhoods, including Dambazau, Gangaren Dutse, Tumfafi, Kakurum, and Dandalama, are cautioned to stay clear of the firing zone during these operations. Authorities explicitly asked the public to remain calm if they hear gunfire, noting that these are pre-planned, supervised maneuvers.

Command officials emphasized that comprehensive safety protocols have been established to secure the area and ensure no risks are posed to local citizens. The Kano State Police Command expressed gratitude to the public for their continued patience and assistance regarding these essential security training sessions.
