INEC Schedules By-Elections for August 16 to Fill Vacant Assembly Seats
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it will hold by-elections on Saturday, August 16, 2025, to fill vacant positions in both the National and State Assemblies.
According to INEC, the vacancies resulted from a mix of resignations, deaths, and court-ordered annulments affecting various constituencies across the country.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, made the announcement during a consultative meeting with political party leaders in Abuja on Thursday.
Further details on the affected constituencies and logistical plans are expected in the coming days.
