Bandits attacked a ‘Tipper Garage’ in Mpape town, Abuja, on Sunday evening, September 22, killing the mosque’s imam, Ahmad Maidara, and abducting a well-known transporter, Alhaji Salisu Danfulani.

The attack occurred around 8 p.m. as garage members were leaving the mosque after the evening prayer.

Nasiru Ahmad, a resident, said the assailants ambushed the imam as he tried to escape through an alternate route, where some attackers were already waiting.

Maidara was shot dead at the scene. Another garage member was shot in the hand and taken to the hospital for treatment.

The bandits reportedly arrived from the mountainous area near the garage and fled the same way after the attack.

Comrade Hamza Muhammad, National President of the Nigeria Union of Mine Workers (NUMW), confirmed the incident, stating that the imam’s body was taken to his home in Gwagwa town, Abuja, where he was buried the following day.
