Gunmen Abduct Traditional Ruler in Nasarawa State

The Nasarawa State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of HRH Mr Emmanuel Omanji, the Sangarin Dari, a third-class traditional ruler from Kokona Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer SP Ramhan Nansel confirmed the incident on the morning of Thursday, May 29, 2025.

Nansel stated that Commissioner of Police CP Shettima Jauro Mohammed has mobilised the anti-kidnapping unit, military personnel, and local vigilantes for a coordinated search and rescue operation to secure the ruler’s release and apprehend the kidnappers.

He also urged anyone with helpful information to come forward, assuring them that all details would be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

It was reported that the Sangarin Dari was kidnapped from his residence around 10 pm on Wednesday by yet-to-be-identified gunmen.
