A group of four people associated with insurgents turned themselves in to the Nigerian Army’s Operation HADIN KAI. They managed to flee their base located within the Mandara Mountains in Gwoza, Borno State.
As reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama, the group reached the C Company of the 192 Battalion (Mechanised) at 8:30 a.m. on July 10. The group consisted of two women, a teenager, and a baby, all of whom escaped from the Kunde terrorist camp.
The individuals were identified as 40-year-old Hauwa Muhammadu, 22-year-old Aisha Muhammadu, 15-year-old Adamu Muhammadu, and 10-month-old Muhammad Mustapha. During initial questioning, they reported that they fled due to the combination of ongoing military offensives and the dire lack of food and essential resources inside the camp.
Following their surrender, troops seized N32,100 from the family. The military has processed and documented the four individuals according to standard protocols, and they remain under the supervision of the 192 Battalion for ongoing investigation and administrative handling.
