The Lagos State Police Command has verified reports of an explosion in the Mushin district. Authorities suspect an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) caused the blast at the Shoe Materials Market, leaving one individual with injuries.
Commissioner of Police Fatai Tijani addressed the media on Monday at the site. He confirmed that specialized Explosive Ordnance Disposal teams were dispatched immediately upon notification to secure and examine the perimeter. According to Tijani, the device was positioned beneath a vehicle and detonated as the engine started.
The injured victim is currently hospitalized and remains in stable condition. Following a comprehensive search of the location, police confirmed no further threats were detected. Commissioner Tijani has encouraged local traders and residents to resume their daily routines, noting that law enforcement has successfully stabilized the environment.
