Nigerian Army Secures Illegal Drug Shipment on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road

Troops from the 65 Battalion intercepted a truck containing illegal drugs along the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, leading to one arrest and a handover to the NDLEA.

Soldiers from the Nigerian Army’s 65 Battalion successfully seized a truck loaded with a significant amount of illegal narcotics on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road. This mission was executed on July 9, 2026, based on reliable information.

Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, acting as the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, confirmed the arrest of the vehicle’s driver. Initial questioning indicated that the shipment was headed for Berger, Lagos, though the driver could not identify who owned or was meant to receive the illegal cargo.

Lieutenant Colonel S. Adeojo, commanding officer of the 65 Battalion, transferred both the driver and the seized narcotics to the Lagos State branch of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for continued processing and legal action.

Major General Adebayo Babalola, the General Officer Commanding the 81 Division, praised the soldiers for their alertness and professional conduct. He encouraged the unit to keep up their efforts in preventing criminals and drug smugglers from operating within their sector.
