The Yobe State Police Command successfully liberated four teenage girls who were seized during an attempted kidnapping in the Fika Local Government Area. Authorities are currently pursuing the criminals who escaped the scene.
On Saturday, June 28, 2026, around 2:23 p.m., a group of armed individuals raided Didim Village and took four females aged 15 to 17. SP Dungus Abdulkarim, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the event in a statement released on Monday.
Upon receiving an emergency report at the Fika Divisional Police Headquarters, officers from the Kukar Gadu Outstation teamed up with local vigilante groups to launch a rescue operation. Backup from the division arrived shortly after, securing the safe return of the hostages. Following their rescue, the girls underwent medical evaluations at the Kukar Gadu Primary Health Care Centre prior to being returned to their families.
Commissioner of Police Usman Kanfani Jibrin has ordered intelligence-based missions to capture the remaining suspects. The police command is urging citizens to share any helpful information regarding suspicious activity to aid in their ongoing investigations.
