Seven Defenders Killed During Repelled Bandit Raid in Katsina

At least seven vigilantes and CJTF members were killed while successfully repelling an armed bandit attack on Ketare town in Katsina State.

A group of armed bandits struck Ketare, a town within the Malumfashi Local Government Area of Katsina State, on Sunday evening. The assault was successfully thwarted by a combined force of local vigilantes and members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF).

Security analyst Bakatsine reported the event on social media this Monday. According to his account, the assailants attempted to overrun the community but encountered significant pushback, leading to an extended firefight that ultimately forced the criminals to withdraw.

Despite successfully defending the town, the encounter proved costly. At least seven defenders lost their lives, among them two CJTF members. Bakatsine emphasized the tragedy, noting that these deaths have left several families devastated and highlighted the ongoing burden of violence that continues to plague the region.
