Footballer Sergio Ramos Joins Mexican Club Monterrey on One-Year Deal
Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has joined Liga MX club Monterrey on a free transfer.
The 38-year-old, who departed Sevilla at the end of the 2023-24 season, has signed a one-year contract with the Mexican club, which currently sits 10th in Liga MX.
Spain’s most-capped player, Ramos has chosen the number 93 jersey—a tribute to his iconic 93rd-minute goal in the 2014 Champions League final, where Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid.
After leaving Madrid in 2021, Ramos spent two seasons at Paris Saint-Germain, playing alongside Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe.
During his 16-year tenure at Real Madrid, Ramos made 671 appearances, scoring 101 goals and providing 40 assists as a defender. He won numerous titles with the club, including four UEFA Champions League trophies and four FIFA Club World Cups.
As the former captain of Spain’s national team, Ramos earned 180 caps and netted 23 goals. He played a crucial role in Spain’s golden era, winning the FIFA World Cup and two European Championships.
