FG Forms Committee to Combat School Bullying, Launches Hotline
The Federal Ministry of Education announced on Tuesday that it has established a seven-member committee to address bullying in all Nigerian schools, further reinforcing its commitment to student welfare and creating a safe learning environment.
The committee will also be tasked with reviewing reported cases and ensuring swift action, working alongside the 21-member team focused on developing a National Policy on Anti-Bullying.
To enable confidential reporting, the government has introduced a hotline – 09012660044, email: antibullying@education.gov.ng, and WhatsApp – 08052536133 for individuals to report such cases.
Minister of Education, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, emphasized the urgent need for effective interventions, highlighting the psychological impact of bullying on students.
The Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Boriowo Folasade, who disclosed the formation of the committee, reiterated the Ministry’s zero-tolerance stance on bullying. She urged school administrators, teachers, parents, and students to support the initiative.
“This aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, prioritising education as a driver of national development,” she said.
