A father of nine, identified only as Charles, has reportedly committed suicide amid an alleged marital dispute in the Jeddo community of Okpe Local Government Area in Delta State.

Charles allegedly ended his life by ingesting a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper at about 3:30 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2024.

Charles, a resident of the Jeddo community, consumed the lethal substance at his home before heading to Ugbokodo, his in-laws’ residence, where he passed away shortly after.

Sources indicated that the deceased was a member of the Jeddo Community Vigilance group, which is responsible for maintaining security in the area.

Reports suggest that his decision to take his own life may have been connected to personal issues, including the abrupt departure of his wife after a heated argument.

Despite efforts by Charles and mutual friends to reconcile, his wife reportedly refused to return to the marriage.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated that he has not yet been officially informed about the case.
