The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 30-year-old Raymond Wonna for alleged involvement in transnational human trafficking and rescued two teenage girls.
Police spokesperson SP Daniel Ndukwe said the victims, 18-year-old Miracle Ogar and 16-year-old Angela Kingsley, both from Cross River State, were intercepted on July 30, 2025, while being trafficked to Ghana under the pretense of job offers.
They were stopped around 2 pm by the command’s crack tactical squad during a patrol along the Enugu–Onitsha Expressway. Investigations revealed Wonna allegedly lured the girls from Ogoja to work in a restaurant owned by his “baby mama” in Ghana without their parents’ consent. He also reportedly attempted to rape them while they were lodged in a hotel before departure.
The victims have since been reunited with their families, and efforts are underway to arrest other members of the trafficking network.
State Police Commissioner Mamman Bitrus Giwa commended the officers for their swift action, urging citizens to report suspicious activities as part of the fight against human trafficking and violent crimes.
