Driver Arrested for Attempting to Sell Employer’s Car in Edo
A 27-year-old driver, Mustapha Suleiman, was arrested in Benin City, Edo State, while attempting to sell his employer’s Toyota RAV4.
Suleiman was detained along with his accomplice, 25-year-old Isaac Joseph, by the Edo State Police Command’s X-Squad.
According to SP Moses Yamu, the command’s spokesperson, the suspects were caught with the Toyota RAV4, which had the registration number EKY 855 JJ, and was suspected to be stolen.
The suspects had arranged to sell the car for N6 million, although a buyer had offered N4 million.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to stealing the vehicle from Lagos State and seeking a buyer.
Suleiman explained to journalists, “I am a driver. The car belongs to my employer. When she asked me to wash it, I drove it to Edo with the intention of selling it.”
He added that they planned to use the proceeds from the sale to start a laundry business.
