Diddy Seeks Gag Order After Grand Jury Witness Interview Near Courthouse
Music mogul Diddy’s legal team has filed a request for a gag order to limit public statements made by potential witnesses and their attorneys outside of court.
The motion, submitted on Sunday, responds to concerns regarding witness Courtney Burgess, who has recently spoken to the media about his testimony.
Diddy’s attorneys are urging the judge to expedite the motion, citing multiple interviews in which Burgess claims to have damaging videos involving Diddy and other celebrities. Diddy’s team has strongly denied these allegations, calling them false and defamatory.
In an encounter with TMZ, Burgess and his lawyer, Ariel Mitchell, discussed the nature of his testimony, stating he was called to testify due to his knowledge of these alleged incriminating videos.
Diddy’s legal representatives argue that such claims should be seen as an “extortion scam,” asserting that the government’s failure to address this is fueling online conspiracy theories and undermining Diddy’s right to a fair trial.
Diddy has been under investigation for nearly a year, facing serious allegations that include racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation for the purpose of prostitution.
His legal team argues that the allegations, referred to as “Freak Offs,” do not involve men, minors, or parties, countering reports from certain media outlets that have inaccurately portrayed the situation.
Currently incarcerated at MDC Brooklyn, Diddy is awaiting trial as civil litigants continue to file lawsuits against him. The legal battle is taking place amid significant public scrutiny and media attention, which further complicates the circumstances surrounding the case.
