Court Remands Woman for Sexually Abusing 14-Year-Old Boy in Ogun
A Magistrates’ Court in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, has remanded a 29-year-old woman, Idris Mariam, for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy (name withheld) in the Muslim High School Area of Ago-Iwoye.
The suspect was arraigned by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command.
The spokesman of the command, Dyke Ogbonnaya, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, February 25, 2025. He stated that Mariam had unlawful sexual intercourse with the minor eight times in her room since December 23, 2024.
According to the statement, the incident was reported to the command by the survivor’s mother.
Ogbonnaya added that the defendant, charged under Section 32 of the Child Rights Law of Ogun State, Nigeria 2006, was remanded at the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Ijebu-Ode for 60 days.
“The survivor, in the course of investigation, opened up that the defendant has been having these s3xual assaults with him since December 23, 2024, for successive eight times,” the statement read.“After the completion of investigation, a motion for ex parte to remand the defendant at the Nigeria Correctional Centre, Ijebu-Ode, for 60 days was filed by the legal team of the State Command at Ago-Iwoye Magisterial Court.”
The spokesperson noted that the court, under His Worship O.F Adeduntan (Mrs), granted the Corps’ request to remand the defendant.
The statement added that a duplicate case file has been forwarded to the Department of Public Prosecution (DPP), Ogun State Ministry of Justice, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, for legal advice.
The Corps State Commandant, Remilekun Ekundayo, issued a warning against indecent behavior and all forms of inhumane treatment, emphasizing that such actions will not be tolerated in the state.
